So you wanna be a Sports Buddy?
What's not to love about watching and playing sports with a kid? Sports Buddies is a program of our state's youth mentoring leader, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado. As a Sports Buddy you will be matched one-to-one with a great kid to play sports and attend sporting events with for at least six months. Many Sports Buddies activities are scheduled each month and we ask volunteers and kids to attend at least one per month. All the transportation and activity fees are included so all you have to do is show up and have fun.

Your Role
You play the most important part of the program - sharing your love of sports with a kid. But there's more to it than that. You are also helping a kid with: self-esteem, goal setting, good sportsmanship and discipline - all qualities inherent to sports. But in the end, it all comes down to having fun and being a friend.

Our Role
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the nuts and bolts behind the Sports Buddies program. We conduct the interviews, trainings and background checks to make sure we create the best possible matches. We coordinate everything…attendance, events, even transportation. We even attend all the events and activities. Currently, we are only accepting male volunteers for the Sports Buddies program.

Volunteer Requirements
It's not hard to love sports and want to make a difference in someone's life, but to make Sports Buddies as powerful as it is, here are the few things we require of our volunteers:

All you need to do is show up and have fun. When you do, you'll be helping a kid - someone who'll look up to you and whose life you can change just by playing ball. Love sports? Come on ... it's game time!
